It’s that time of the year again, when the country’s stylish set is invited to dress up for a night of fun and fashion—the annual Preview Ball. To celebrate its 21st year, Preview Magazine decided it was perfect for everyone to get their geek on, what with nerdcore being a top trend in fashion the last few seasons. “There’s something about the geek chic movement in fashion that’s as exciting as it is accessible,” said Preview’s Editor-in-Chief Isha Vallés. “We all geek out over different things: whether its fashion, literature, science, science fiction. We wanted everyone to just have fun with it.”

And what better place for everyone to party than in the halls of knowledge. With the help of Moss Manila and The Event Architects (TEA), Whitespace Manila was transformed into an all-white Preview University. Guests could get their school IDs at the Forever 21 photo booth, before walking through the school parking lot to take OOTNs beside the parked Mazda cars (for the chance to win a shopping spree!). Inside, all-white biology and literature classrooms, and even a library were setup so every squad could choose where to hang. The menu of the day at the school cafeteria was a mix of nibbles from Ooma, Bank Bar, Linguini Fini and 8 Cuts of The Moment Group of Restaurants. And the bar? That was designed to replicate a science lab, where drinks from Titania Wine Cellar Inc., Tanduay, Perrier and Smirnoff Mule were served and molecular cubes of Ladurée macarons were displayed alongside beakers and test tubes on metal-framed shelves.

With the spirited mood fueled by the beats of DJs Xtina, Nix Damn P and Mars Miranda, we saw July cover girls Aimee Song and Liz Uy chatting at the library while volleyball superstar Mika Reyes and her teammates found their cozy spot at the zoology classroom. At the end of the night, some guests were treated to a recovery kit filled with Havaianas slippers so they could change out of their heels, Belo Essentials collagen and Vita Coco coconut water to help rehydrate, beauty products from Max Factor because post-party skin care is important, and discount vouchers for our guests to get themselves a pair of Lacoste sunnies.
