The heat is on as Town & Country’s March issue celebrates the arrival of summer. Gracing the cover of the travel-themed issue is Solar News anchor Mitzi Borromeo, whose radiant personality and charm shine through in a lavish 10-page spread, photographed at the exclusive Eskaya Beach Resort and Spa in Bohol. An avid traveler herself—she’s been to five continents so far—Mitzi is a staunch advocate of eco-tourism and conservation. In the cover story, “Walking on Sunshine,” Mitzi relates details of her personal journey, including the ups and downs, which brought her to where she is today, at peace and happily content.
Bringing the Travel issue into perspective, editor-in-chief Yvette Fernandez says, “Tourism everywhere in the country has taken a beating after the calamities of last year, and it really needs a pick-me-up. Every trip counts.” Keeping with the theme, T&C profiles Jay Aldeguer, the CEO of the Islands Group, best known for the Islands Souvenirs T-shirts. Here, he talks about his passion for travel and tourism, as well as his penchant for classic vintage cars.
Food and travel lovers are in for a treat with the “Eating Around” report, which offers capsule reviews of must-try places in Taipei, Singapore, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, as well as Bacolod, Cebu, and Davao. Then there is “Less Siesta, More Fiesta,” which enticingly details a culinary tour of Spain and France. Even more ambitious is “Continental Drifting,” which spells out many more reasons for T&C readers to visit every continent on the planet, from camping at the South Pole to interacting with gorillas deep in the African jungle.
Some pleasures, though, are closer to home. If a “staycation” is more your thing, snuggle up with food finds from the “Candy Bar” feature, a delightfully imaginative pairing of classic confections with refreshing cocktails, wines, and spirits.
