For its year-ending double-issue special, Town&Country presents its first-ever list of Manila's Most Prominent Families. On this most talked-about list, dubbed "The T&C 50," the magazine narrows down the city's most respected names and selects the very best. In these days when the spirit of meritocracy is celebrated, merely having an old name, fame, or fortune is no longer enough. To be included on the list, the families have to be inspiring, generous, enduring, creative, or powerful, or if fortunate enough, have all these qualities in spades.
As part of the initial batch of the Town&Country 50, members of the Zobel de Ayala Family, the brothers Jaime Augusto and Fernando Zobel de Ayala with their mother Beatriz, grace the cover. The charming vintage photograph of some of the most powerful men in the nation offers a glimpse of what’s to come in the feature. Many of the families featured have graciously lent priceless rarely seen family photographs to Town&Country. The magazine’s editor, Yvette Fernandez, says “we are honored and extremely grateful to the families who have shared special moments in their lives with us.”
In another story, Town&Country shines a light on “The New Breed,” the most extraordinary young philanthropists today. These trailblazers helping the less fortunate and other marginalized sectors of society include sisters Alex and Michaela Eduque, Joaquin Benares, Michi Ferreol, Adela Locsin, Tricia Peralta, Mark Lozano, Mika Limcaoco, and Gaby Montinola. All under the age of 24, learn how they’re making a difference in society in a big way.
This being a holiday issue, the magazine celebrates the spirit of Christmas by presenting “Haute Holiday,” its annual, much-anticipated luxury gift guide. And to further inspire the T&C woman when she prepares her midnight feast, “All the Trimmings” lays out all the goodies fit for a king, including items for the perfect canapé, savory treats to put you in the holiday spirit, and decadent sweets and desserts for a Christmas dinner ending that’s pure bliss.
