It’s official: The Best of Chico & Delamar’s The Morning Rush Top 10 has tickled the nation’s funny bone! For the month of February, the compilation jumps to the top spot of the local bestseller list of National Book Store, the country’s biggest bookstore chain.

“Even if the book [hadn’t] hit number one, we already are forever grateful for the opportunity to release this book,” The Morning Rush with Chico & Delamar host Chico Garcia says in his blog. “But never in our wildest dreams did we imagine that the book would be on the bestseller list!

“We’ll never tire of thanking everyone who was part of this success; from our co-authors, the Rushers, to the people part of the making, like RX and Summit, to the people who bought the book,” Garcia continues.

Just last month, Summit Books ordered a reprint of 15,000 additional copies of the compilation, when the initial print run of 40,000 proved insufficient to meet growing reader demand. (Read related story here.)

“If the book’s success keeps up, we will definitely look into the possibility of launching a second volume,” Summit Books publisher Christine Ko discloses.

Summit Books released The Best of Chico & Delamar’s The Morning Rush Top 10 in December of last year to coincide with the 15th anniversary of The Morning Rush with Chico & Delamar on Monster Radio RX 93.1, one of the longest-running FM radio shows in the country and a Best Comedy Program awardee at the 19th KBP Golden Dove Awards. The book gathers over 100 of the radio program’s funniest Top 10 lists and celebrates the wit not just of hosts Garcia and Delamar Arias, but of the show’s listeners—the “Rushers”—as well. Barely a month after its release, the compilation rose to number two on both National Book Store’s and Powerbooks’ local book charts.

The Best of Chico & Delamar’s The Morning Rush Top 10 is available in newsstands, bookstores, and supermarkets nationwide for only P175.
