Prepare to go on an intense feels trip with a book that candidly captures what it’s like to fall in love, fail in love, and be left to pick up the pieces.
Out now from Summit Books is Lahat Tayo May Period (At Iba Pang Punctuation Marks) by Rod Marmol, creator of the Facebook page Utot Catalog which has captured thousands upon thousands of followers with its spot-on poetry and relatable reflections on love and heartbreak all written in Tagalog.
Lahat Tayo May Period is a compilation of poems and other literary works in Tagalog that employs the theme of punctuation marks to classify common romantic experiences. The writings in the book are divided into the following chapters: Tuldok (period) for the end of love, Kuwit (comma) for issues that plague relationships, Tutuldok-Tuldok (ellipsis) for those who lay in wait for romance, Tandang Padamdam (exclamation point) for the moments when emotions are running high, and Tandang Pananong (question mark) for the difficult questions we continue to ask ourselves and the ones we love.
Lahat Tayo May Period also features artworks by illustrator Raine Sarmiento.
Marmol launched the Facebook page Utot Catalog in 2012 as a platform for poetry and hugot musings by him and contributors who submit their pieces. It is so named because the creator encourages readers to be honest with themselves, confront their emotions, and release their feelings, no matter how painful they are. Through Utot Catalog, Marmol also seeks to promote the Filipino language and awaken the poetic voices of Filipinos. As of this writing, Utot Catalog has over 274,000 followers on Facebook.
