As The Philippine Literary Festival returns for its second year from August 28 to 30, 2015, Summit Books once again takes part in the three-day event presented by National Book Store and Raffles Makati that allows the reading community to interact with local and international writers, artists, and publishers.
Among Summit Books’ offerings at the festival is a book signing and workshop by Abbey Sy, author and artist behind The ABCs of Hand Lettering, which takes place on August 29, 10am-12pm at the Ballroom 2. The ABCs of Hand Lettering is a book that aims to guide lettering hobbyists with basic techniques, helpful tips, and lots of encouraging inspiration.
On August 29, 1pm-2:30pm at the Ballroom 2, Summit Books holds the book launch, book signing, and interactive exhibit for its Hue Can Do It! coloring book series. The Hue Can Do It books feature illustrations by some of the most talented Filipino artists today; namely, Abi Dayacap, Abi Goy, Abi Montana, Alysse Asilo, Angela Taguiang, Apol Sta. Maria, Ariel Santillan, Asa Montenejo, Blic Pinas, Brent Sabas, Camille Chua, Camz Dagal, Clare Magno, Domz Agsaway, Electrolychee, Epjey Pacheco, Fran Alvarez, Frank Perez, Gica Tam, Harry Monzon, Isa Natividad, Jamie Bauza, Jap Mikel, Jaykee Evangelista, JP Cuison, Kay Aranzanso, Koi Carreon, Liza Flores, Manix Abrera, Mawee Borromeo, Mika Bacani, Nelz Yumul, Nicole Lim, Paul Eric Roca, Paulo Correa, Pergy Acuña, Raine Sarmiento, Ray Sunga, Reg Silva, Robx Bautista, Rommel Joson, Sergio Bumatay III, Tasha Rye, and Wiji Lacsamana. The contributing artists will be present at the book signing.
On August 30, 10am-12pm at Ballroom 1, Summit Books’ young adult fiction imprint, Pop Fiction, takes the spotlight. Author Ines Bautista-Yao (One Crazy Summer, What's in Your Heart, and Only a Kiss) delivers a talk on writing young adult fiction as part of Pop Fiction Academy, a series of workshops for readers, aspiring writers, and Pop Fiction followers.
Immediately following the talk is a book signing at the same venue, with the following Pop Fiction authors present: KwentoNiJhingness (The Filthy Rich Bitch, DAMA: The Princess Bitch), blue_maiden (The Four Bad Boys and Me), iDangs (Teen Clash), simplychummy (Avah Maldita), iamkitin (Boyfriend Corp.), marielicious (Accidentally in Love with a Gangster), sielalstreim (Montello High: School of Gangsters), onneechan (Special Section), and Yam-Yam28, whose book Girlfriend for Hire will soon be adapted into a major motion picture. Two other Pop Fiction books will also soon make their way to primetime TV.
Also set to appear at the festival are this year’s headliners, New York Times bestselling authors Matthew Quick (The Silver Linings Playbook) and Meg Wolitzer (The Interestings, The Wife).
