SmartParenting.com.ph celebrates motherhood and all of its adventures by kicking off this year’s Smart Parenting Baby Shower at the Crowne Plaza Manila last April 22, 2017.

“An expectant mom, especially a new mom, is excited, but she is also anxious about her childbirth – she has tons of questions,” said Leah Nemil-San Jose, Smart Parenting’s editor-in-chief. “With Smart Parenting’s Baby Shower, we hope we can give her answers and ease her worries. We want her to feel that the workshop is her comfort zone!”

The day was filled with much passion for parenthood as mommies nearing childbirth experienced an afternoon of informational talks and fun activities from experts.

The first talk was given by Kate delos Reyes and Mish Maravilla from LATCH Philippines, a non-profit organization that offers quality lactation education and peer counseling services to mothers. Kate and Mish shared the A-to-Zs and the benefits of breastfeeding, plus discussed latching positions and breastmilk supply.

And that's a wrap for our first #SPbabyshower this year. Edward Cuenca, an instructor from American Safety and Health Institute and a level-9 instructor-trainer for basic and advance emergency courses, gave light on the importance of first aid for infants. He demonstrated CPR and Heimlich Maneuver for Infants.

And finally, Betty San Luis, CD, the main childhood mentor of Birthing is a Blessing, a childbirth mentoring and doula support service, demonstrated prenatal relaxation and proper breathing techniques. A certified doula is a trained labor and birth support person who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother and her partner during pregnancy, childbirth, and post-partum.

The day’s series of talks was concluded by model, blogger, columnist, and Belo Baby’s mombassador, Kelly Misa-Hernandez, who shared her experience as a first-time mother and how she overcame the struggle of finding the perfect baby skin products for her son’s sensitive skin.

After all the activities, expectant mommies were treated with a sumptuous buffet with an exciting line of prizes from the event’s major sponsor Belo Baby, and generous concessionaires: Snag-A-Hug, Mommy Treats, Baby Leaf, Wink, The Nest, Miracle Blanket, Wallaby Mommy, Mega Malunggay, Blanqui, Baby K’ Tan, Giant Carrier, Smart Steps, Baby Mama, Seve’s Mom, and Babyganics.
