Love for the written word prevails, as Summit Books proved with its successful stint at the 13th Manila International Book Fair, held from September 11 to 15 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Besides Summit Books sales at this year’s fair hitting an all-time high, book signings held at the event also drew readers in the hundreds, shares Summit Books team publisher Christine Ko. 

“A lot of people went to our booth to buy magazines and books, as well as fall in line and have their books signed,” Ko says. “It was a wonderful opportunity for the authors to meet their readers, and for the fans to meet their idols.”

The series of book signings, which ran from September 13 to 15, started with Jomike Tejido (Foldabots Toybook) and Bianca Bernardino a.k.a. SGWannabe (She’s Dating the Gangster) meeting with their readers on the first day. On September 14 the spotlight was on female authors, with Jade Pitogo a.k.a. Girl in Love launching her book Three Words, Eight Letters, Say It, and I’m Yours under the Summit Books imprint Pop Fiction, and Marla Miniano (From This Day Forward), Chinggay Labrador (Popped Trilogy), and Mina Esguerra (Interim Goddess of Love) appearing before chick lit fans. September 16 was another big day at the Summit booth as Papa Jack (Everything I Need to Know about Love I Learned from Papa Jack) and Aly Almario a.k.a. Alyloony (Operation: Break the Casanova’s Heart) signed copies for their followers, and Lourd de Veyra debuted his highly anticipated The Best of This Is a Crazy Planets Book 2. 

The launch of The Best of This Is a Crazy Planets Book 2 even boasted a surprise appearance by the author’s friends and fellow funnymen Ramon Bautista, Jun Sabayton, RA Rivera, and Stanley Chi, whose hilarious antics amused fans to no end.
