Artist and bestselling author Abbey Sy of The ABCs of Hand Lettering fame has launched a new endeavor that will serve as an encouraging reminder for aspiring artists to roll up their sleeves and start creating.

Out now from Summit Books is ABC Magazine, a publication that gives artists, crafters, and makers the tools, exercises, wisdom, and inspiration they need to create beautiful works they can be proud of.



Through the first issue of ABC Magazine, themed “Student of Life,” Abbey hopes to encourage readers to be open to learning and to always yearn for new knowledge to fuel their craft.

“As someone who teaches workshops, I’ve always been an advocate of learning new things and sharing them with others,” Abbey says in her opening letter. “Inside these pages, I give a glimpse of my travels, advice, and the learnings I picked up along the way.”



ABC Magazine’s first issue brims with helpful snippets and encouraging features all laid out amidst delightful illustrations, charming typography, and the prettiest photos. Here, aspiring creatives get to pore through pages of materials meant to get them artistically stoked such as books to read, podcasts to listen to, and arts and crafts shops to visit. Once you’re on the road to embarking on a creative endeavor, ABC Magazine identifies the tools you’ll need to boost creativity, from advice on conquering your goals to techniques on designing your workspace. Top professionals in different creative fields also chime in with advice and revelations to help budding creators along in their journey. Cool DIY projects round up the magazine’s offerings, with crafting tutorials, decorating ideas, and even food prep how-tos meant to stimulate creative expression.



To leave you with concrete reminders to “Always Be Creating,” ABC Magazine comes with free postcards, stickers, and wall art designed by Abbey as well as fellow artists and crafters Gian Nicdao, Mansy Abesamis, June Digan, and Jean Kelly.

Abbey is set to launch ABC Magazine on June 17, 2-5 p.m. at Art Bar, Serendra, Bonifacio Global City.



An artist, author and creative entrepreneur, Abbey released The ABCs of Hand Lettering under Summit Books in 2015, which went on to become a Philippine bestseller. She followed it up with Letters from ABC: 52 Postcards from A to Z and The ABCs of Journaling, a bestseller as well, both published by Summit Books.

The first issue of ABC Magazine is now available in newsstands, bookstores, convenience stores, and supermarkets nationwide for P250.
