Summit Media, along with representatives from the leading Philippine online publishers gathered today in the Palawan Ballroom of the Edsa Shangrila Hotel for the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding towards a common system for online audience measurement.
Three third-party web audience measurement providers were tested by the top web publishing companies, which include ABS-CBN Interactive, BusinessWorld Publishing Corp., GMA New Media Inc., Inquirer Interactive Inc., Philippine Entertainment Portal, PhilStar Global Corp., and Summit Media. After five months of deliberations, they have unanimously decided to acquire the services of Effective Measure, which is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia.
Lisa Gokongwei-Cheng, president of Summit Media and PEP Inc. noted that having all major online publishers participate in this event illustrates that this is indeed a milestone in the Philippine web publishing industry. She remarked, “Finally there is transparency in presenting data as publishers to advertisers using a common standard.”
There are already 29,700,000 Philippine Internet users as of mid-2010, according to a study by Yahoo and Nielsen.
