A good meal deserves a good tip. A great meal that leaves you with not just a full belly and satiated taste buds, but with lip-smacking memories you won’t soon forget, deserves an award.

Summit Books and Mastercard recently gave out plaques to the establishments that made it to the bestselling restaurant guidebook Eat Out Now! 115 Manila Restaurants We Love by Alicia Colby-Sy. The book, a joint project of Summit Media’s book publishing division and the leading credit card company, presents over a hundred places in the metro that consistently deliver the most delightful dining experience.

The plaques serve to remind restaurateurs of their culinary achievement, and at the same time prove to visiting diners that they are in good hands. “The plaques symbolize excellence because the people who worked on this book truthfully liked the featured restaurants; the restaurant owners didn’t lobby to be included in the list,” Summit Books Team Publisher Christine Ko explains. “Summit Books awarded them with these plaques so they can proudly display it in their restaurants.”

Among the 115 restaurants that received honors are  time-tested institutions such as Lolo Dad’s, Abe, and Sugi; newer favorites such as Las Flores and Wildflour Cafe + Bakery; comfort food haunts such as 2nds, Stella, and Gino’s Brick Oven Pizza; plus a host of other eateries, from ubiquitous to obscure, from fancy to fuss-free.

Eat Out Now! continues to enjoy an impressive run in bookstores since its release in November 2012. In January this year, it was named a Philippine bestseller, landing in the fourth spot of National Book Store’s and Powerbooks’ lists of local bestsellers for December 2012.
