She's Dating the GangsterJust a month after Everything I Need to Know about Love I Learned from Papa Jack topped National Book Store's and Powerbooks’ bestseller lists for Philippine publications, another Summit Books release, the chick lit treat She’s Dating the Gangster, soars to become the bookstore chains’ number one local bestseller for April.

Based on the online fan fiction created by Bianca Bernardino, She’s Dating the Gangster tells the heart-wrenching tale of 17-year-old Athena Dizon and campus bad boy Kenji de los Reyes, two teenagers who begin a pretend relationship that ultimately transforms into something deeper. The poignant love story has long been a hit in the online fanfic community, even spawning numerous fan pages on Facebook alone. And with Korean “kilig” elements sure to tickle the sentimental bone of Pinoy fans of the genre, it’s no wonder She’s Dating the Gangster shot to the top of local bestseller charts soon after its release in March.

She’s Dating the Gangster is the latest in a string of Summit Books that have made a killing in local bookstores since the start of the year. January and February saw the December 2012 bestseller The Best of Chico, Delamar, and Gino’s The Morning Rush Top 10 Book 2 sitting tight at the top of National Book Store’s Philippine bestseller roundup. Meanwhile, Nanay Coring, a children’s book by Yvette Fernandez that shares the life story of National Book Store founder Socorro Ramos, reached third place in the chart in January. In March, Summit Books’ first offering featuring 90.7 Love Radio’s Papa Jack conquered the top spot.

She’s Dating the Gangster (P175), Everything I Need to Know about Love I Learned from Papa Jack (P143) The Best of Chico, Delamar, and Gino’s The Morning Rush Top 10 Book 2 (P195), and Nanay Coring (P125) are all available in bookstores nationwide.
