Two Summit Books land on National Book Store’s local bestseller list

This looks to be a banner year for Summit Books! The new year has barely begun and already the book publishing arm of Summit Media commands the second and third spots of the local bestseller list of National Book Store, the country’s leading bookstore chain.

Currently sitting tight at number two is The Best of Chico and Delamar’s The Morning Rush Top 10, a collection of over 100 of the RX 93.1 program’s craziest, naughtiest, and funniest Top 10 lists. 

Summit Books released The Best of Chico and Delamar’s The Morning Rush Top 10 in December 2011 to coincide with The Morning Rush’s 15th anniversary in the same year. Barely a month after its launch, the compilation shot to number two on both the National Book Store and Powerbooks local book charts. Plans to produce an additional 15,000 copies are underway.

“[This is] incredible, given that we just wanted something memorable for our listeners, not really thinking it’ll be on any bestseller list,” says Chico Garcia, host of the well-loved program The Morning Rush with Chico & Delamar, on his blog. “So this is an amazing bonus for us. Who knows? There’s still time; we might even reach the summit of these lists!”

Snagging the third spot on National Book Store’s roundup is The Best of This Is a Crazy Planets by Lourd de Veyra. The anthology, which contains standout pieces published on Lourd’s SPOT.ph blog, continues to fly off shelves months after it first hit bookstores in June 2011.

“Readers can relate to what Lourd writes about,” says Summit Books publisher Christine Ko of the irreverent appeal of the TV personality, Radioactive Sago Project vocalist, award-winning writer, and pop culture commentator. “It's what they're thinking themselves, only Lourd expresses himself so well and in such a humorous way.”

The Best of Chico & Delamar’s The Morning Rush Top 10 (P175) and The Best of This Is a Crazy Planets (P195) are available in newsstands, bookstores, and supermarkets nationwide.
