More people read magazines compared to newspapers

According to the latest Synovate Media Atlas Survey (wave 2, 2009-2010) magazines reach more readers (at 29%) vs the reach of both English daily newspapers and English Sunday newspapers combined (at 24%).   The total magazine reach at 29% in 2009-2010 is still higher compared to 2007-2008 at 28% while overall newspaper readership continues to decline (from 36% in 2007-2008 to 32% in 2009-2010).

The top four most-read local glossies continue to be Summit Media magazines.  These are:

The Synovate Media Atlas Survey is designed to measure accurate media figures of newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, mobile phone, cinema and internet.  It uses a combination of Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing for the ABC+ markets and the face-to-face approach for broad CDE.  It surveys people aged 15-64 and conducted 8,059 interviews.
